Hastings Racecourse & Casino is seeking an energetic, guest focused Human Resources professional to join our team. The HR Coordinator will be responsible for delivering a variety of HR services including recruitment, general payroll administration, team member engagement, rewards and recognition, coordinating team member requests, as well as providing support to the overall HR team. A focus of this team member will be to contribute to a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members and to ensure adherence to all policies and procedures.The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:Manage the full-cycle recruitment process including sourcing candidates, screening resumes, conducting phone-screens, scheduling and conducting interviews, and coordinating reference and background checks for designated department groupsMaintain team member records and files, including collecting and processing HR paperwork for new hires, transfers, and promotionsEnters and maintains respective site HRIS duties; new team member entries, current team member changes, compliance tracking and running reportsAssist with payroll entry (no payroll experience required)Assist with team member orientations including site toursPrepares internal correspondence and communications as directedCoordinates and helps drive the site GEM program and organize events such as staff parties, community volunteer daysCommunicates effectively with all appropriate operational departmentsComplies with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulationsProvides coverage for other members of the HR team when requiredOther duties as assigned.Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:Degree and/or diploma in Human Resources Management from a recognized post-secondary institution, or a combination of relevant education and experienceMinimum of 2 years working experience in Human Resources or Recruitment, preferably in a union environmentA CPHR or other HR designation would be an asset but not requiredMaintains and exercises a high degree of discretion and confidentiality in giving out informationFamiliar with current employment legislation/labour jurisprudenceProven track-record of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlinesA willingness to learn, develop and achieve new skills for personal and professional developmentThe ability to successfully obtain a criminal record and credit check through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement BranchCandidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule.
