We are looking for those who have the courage and confidence to be humble; the self-motivated, ambitious professionals who are hungry; and those who never lose sight of their intuition, emotional intelligence, or the unequivocal impact of being people smart.Reporting to the Project Manager, the Junior Planner/Scheduler is responsible for working closely with the operations group including a Senior Planner/Scheduler on planning, scheduling, forecasting, and schedule risk management. They will ensure the project schedule is effectively managed through the various phases of construction for the project.This is a camp based position in Kitimat, BC, working a shift of 14 days on, 7 day off, flights from Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver will be provided.Calgary, Edmonton, VancouverResponsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Planner/Schedule to update the project schedule or portions of it on a weekly basis, by analyzing work performed in the field and communicating with the operations group to obtiain schedule update information (Actual Start/Finish Dates, Forecasted Start/Finish Dates, Actual Progress, Changes to Schedule Logic, Additional Scopes of Work)
  • Provide analysis of schedule data to identify key project issues
  • Assist in coordinating schedule inputs from all parts of the project
  • Identify and analyze schedule variances and recommend associated corrective actions
  • Assist the Senior Planner/Scheduler to present the project schedule to the client
  • Participate in the development of WBS and help ensure project coding is effectively used for all applications
  • Ability to utilize drawings and specifications as a basis for structuring the project schedule is a nice to have skill
  • Assist the Project Manager to measure progress and review the subcontractor’s progress
  • Conduct or assist in performance measurement and associated schedule trends
  • Assist in the preparation of various levels of project reports to meet project need
  • Ensure internal and external deadlines are met consistently
  • Assist the regional teams setting pursuit strategies related to project schedules as directed
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Technology or a combination of equivalent skills and field
  • 1-5 years’ experience within a project controls group, construction management and scheduling
  • Engineering and commercial construction experience
  • Working knowledge of multi-discipline construction activities
  • Junior Primavera 6, MS Project and Excel skills
  • Knowledge in the application of earned value, critical path analysis and risk assessment is an asset
  • Experience in all aspects of project scheduling including logic development, progress measurement, schedule impact analysis, resource loading/leveling, schedule risk analysis, etc.
  • Familiar with construction contracting and the scheduling implications of contract terms
  • Ability to produce Progress Curves, Commodity progress and Manpower Analysis
  • Knowledgeable of scope control and change management and ability to incorporate directed changes into schedule baseline
  • Knowledgeable in earned value methodology
  • Ability to develop and assess change order impacts to baseline schedule
  • Ability to articulate change order impacts to project master schedule
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work well independently and with diverse personalities and work force
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
