CHANGEpain, an interdisciplinary community-based pain clinic is seeking to add one additional Kinesiologist to our active rehabilitation program.Job Title: KinesiologistLocation: VancouverStart Date: June 2021Compensation: Independent Contractor with competitive split & busy case load; $39-$42.50/ 50-minute sessionReports to: Director of Integrative Health, Dr. Lindsay RiteWork Hours: Clinic hours are Monday to Saturday 7 am to 7 pm; fulltime hours are available.Who are weCHANGEpain is a passionate community of pain experts inspired by our vision to create the best place to change pain where people feel safe, are heard and believed, and are empowered with skills that support their own healing. We offer a blend of MSP, extended care and private pay services to reduce the development of chronic pain before it happens and find ways to alleviate it when it impacts quality of life.Our interdisciplinary, community-based pain clinic of pain specialized medical doctors and health professionals evaluate bio-psycho-social issues to create a personalized, multi-dimensional pain care plan. We continuously apply the newest evidence to ensure that our practice is evidence informed.Who are youYou are a dynamic, compassionate, and detail-orientated individual. You are interested in personal growth and professional development and want to become an integral part of a truly integrated health team.Active therapy is a key pillar in our integrated health model. As a member of our Kinesiology team, you will be receiving referrals from both our Medical Services and Integrative Pain Services. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of patients’ exercise prescription programs. A broad range of clients will be received with varying functional capacity, disability, comorbidities and injury history (ex. MVA/ICBC, sport, concussion, veterans, peri-surgical). You will work closely with our allied health team (Physiotherapists & Chiropractors) to deliver an effective and personalized exercise program for individuals. Opportunities for teaching virtual group exercise may also be available.Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration and consultation with the CHANGEpain medical and allied health teams.
  • Perform standardized screening to evaluate physical readiness for exercise.
  • Perform standardized exercise physiology testing to evaluate physical and functional fitness.
  • Personalized program development and implementation for patients in our pain programs, ICBC, or private pay.
  • Record keeping and report writing into our shared electronic medical record.
  • Development and monitoring of personalized home active care plans utilizing journaling, wearable technology, and personalized cloud-based exercise tracking program.
  • Provide education, brief action planning, motivational interviewing, and goal setting in the context of exercise therapy, pain, and activities of daily living.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle and self efficacy strategies.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an exercise-related field (eg. Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Exercise Physiology, or Exercise Science)
  • Registration with an exercise related governing body (eg. BCAK, CSEP, ACSM), must be registered or can immediately register with the BCAK.
  • Commercial liability and 2 million dollars of personal liability insurance
  • A minimum of 1 - 2 years of related experience in delivering supervised active therapy/strength and conditioning.
  • Experience in knowledge translation, brief action planning, and motivational interviewing
  • Business, sales, marketing and/or development experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication ability
  • An interest in evidence-based care, integration, and pain
  • A desire to develop a long-term clientele and career in this position.
