Job Description

Cinesite Vancouver is looking for Lead Animators to join our Animation team this fall!Our Animation teamAt Cinesite Vancouver, the animation department is responsible for character performances that fulfill the needs of any given project. Our team is made up of junior, intermediate, senior artists, leads and supervisors, all of whom play an integral part in production. In Animation, we look for strong character acting abilities and a solid grasp of the physical mechanics of movement. A keen understanding of the principles of animation is essential. As well as working collaboratively as a team, we work closely with the show directors, clients, and the previs and shot finaling departments.If this all sounds like a role for you and available soon, please apply!What you will be doing

  • Train new hires on the pipeline and workflows
  • Provide constructive and respectful feedback to artists
  • Support artists to develop them professionally
  • Provide feedback on performance to HR and the supervisor for future development
  • When requested, provide backup support to the supervisor
  • Understand the strengths of the team members and assign work that is relevant in order to develop them as well as meeting the productions needs
  • Update production on deadlines, scheduling and workflow issues as required
  • Write technical documentation for others to use and refer to
  • Work with the pipeline team in building and maintaining tools and workflows
  • Collaborate with other departments for optimization, solving issues and ensuring continuity
What you bring to the team
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Efficient time management and strong understanding of resource management
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within the department and the rest of the studio
  • Proficient in Maya
  • In depth understanding of 3D animation
  • Solid understanding of principles of animation
  • In-depth knowledge of anatomy, perspective and composition
  • Expert in lip sync, acting, staging and timing
  • Excellent eye for detail and continuity
  • Excellent at executing complex character performance and /or technically challenging shots and sequences
