Job Description

Youll oversee the day-to-day production of MEC’s bilingual content, including original French content as well as adaptation of English copy. Youll make sure that all our writing reflects MEC’s brand values, meets writing standards and supports the objectives of marketing plans.Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead the bilingual editorial process to ensure a coordinated and efficient approach to creating content to align with marketing and communication projects
  • Develop and maintain MEC’s French language style guide and tone of voice materials
  • Proof and review work of writers and translators to ensure it meets brand standards for member-facing content
  • Work within editorial team to adapt content based on insights and performance analysis
  • Source suitable freelance translators, writers and other language professionals to ensure content supports evolving brand positioning
  • Coordinate and project manage MEC translation projects, both seasonal and longer term with freelance translators and editors
  • Communicate with stakeholders and colleagues to ensure projects are completed within established timelines
  • Maintain French language termbases, translation memories and translation project templates to ensure an efficient, cost-effective flow of work
  • Maintain organised workflows and implement new procedures and tools as needed
  • Distill information into clear reports and presentations for stakeholders
  • Manage translation budgets for marketing
Qualifications
  • 4–6 years experience in content creation and editing for digital and traditional media
  • English/French translation or editing certification
  • Ability to communicate fluently in French and English
  • Exceptional French grammar and proofreading skills and ability to adapt style and tone to regional conventions of Québec and Canada’s French language speakers
  • Expert level knowledge of translation software and content management systems (CAT-based systems, SDL Trados, WordPress)
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize lots of projects within a fast-paced environment
  • Experienced in digital productivity tools and Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint)
  • Experience developing creative concepts and working with creative briefs
  • Ability to evaluate and recommend translation systems or service providers and to adapt current processes as required
  • Ability to see solutions, create plans and action them in the face of ambiguity
  • Experience managing stakeholder expectations
