ABOUT THE DIGITAL LABThe Digital Lab is an integrated unit of BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia’s Department of Pediatrics. Our mission is to improve the lives of pediatric patients and their families through digital innovation and technology. Since launching in 2016, the unit has evolved into a diverse interdisciplinary team of 40+ staff and students with a shared passion for exploring the potential that exists at the crossroads of technology and healthcare. We develop bespoke software, mobile apps, websites, media, games, and advanced simulations, as well as lead innovative clinical engineering programs within the hospital that leverage emerging technologies such as 3D printing and virtual reality. Underpinning our efforts is a robust research program that focuses on new technology development, patient-centered design, economic evaluation, and outcomes research associated with the products and services we provide. Our research is published in leading journals related to our fields.We are a multidisciplinary team that is united by our passion for social impact, with a focus on improving the lives of children and families, locally and around the world. We celebrate diversity, both personally and professionally, and pride ourselves on a strong culture of curiosity, creativity, and courage to challenge the status quo.JOB SUMMARY:We are looking for a new leader to join the Digital Lab as Project Lead, focused on developing and leading our project management team, delivering world-class digital health products. Working closely with other cross-functional leaders, the Project Lead will provide internal ownership for our project management and delivery function, acting as a vital coordinative link between our internal teams, partners, allied stakeholders, and end users (including patients, families, clinical providers, and others).WHAT YOU WILL DOThis position will work broadly across the project management cycle, from project initiation to closure and evaluation. Responsiblities and scope of work will include, but is not limited to project planning, delivery, quality assurance, resource management, team leadership, risk management, and the overall advancement of our project management function.Day-to-day activities will include:

  • Serving as an internal leader and advisor in technical project management.
  • Acting as the internal owner for all project management processes, with operational oversight for a team of project coordinators, assistants, and/or student supports.
  • Developing project documentation, including project initiation agreements, project plans, budgets, change briefs, and other project administration documents.
  • Working with cross-functional leads (product, technical, design, etc.) to remove blockers and ensure effective and efficient project delivery (on-time and on-budget).
  • Facilitating internal daily standup meetings across the projects.
  • Communicating project status updates to the Core Leadership Team.
  • Oversight for portfolio-wide project boards on our internal tracking software.
  • Participate in quality assurance and testing of implemented features and designs.
  • Coordinate regular weekly/bi-weekly meetings with our clients for project updates
  • Communicate critical issues that arise with the appropriate team members
  • Walk through the product with partners as needed during key milestones
  • Mentor and support all project coordinator and assistants across the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field (e.g. Business, Technology, etc.)
  • 2-5 years recent experience in technical project management
  • Working knowledge of agile scrum project management methodology.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or formal training a considerable asset.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of an integrated team.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams through excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to develop ideas/processes and clearly express them.
  • Experience with UI/UX design process and software development an asset.
Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per yearBenefits:
