Overview:WildBrain is looking for a Lead Technical Animator to join our team!In this role, you will be directly responsible for conducting quality control of all assets to ensure they are ready for production. You will work with the CG Supervisor, Rigging and Animation departments to ensure the geometry and rigs meet the needs of the show.We are currently working virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time our hiring teams are ready to support interviews via video conferencing, and we are enabling artists to work from home until the studio can reopen. We’d love to hear from you! #stayhomestaysafe!Responsibilities:Conduct model and rig testing to ensure rigs are production readyConduct range of motion tests for all new character buildsCreate and rig Proxy models as needed, Proxy FX for timing, and Proxy lighting for lighting referenceAssist in the development of any specialized assets as neededAssist in making show-specific cycles/poses and cycles for crowd animationTest and provide feedback on proprietary animation toolsLead Shot Finaling team and help to maintain deadlinesAssist in training the Animation Team on an ongoing basis both technically and creativelyLiaise with Design, Modelling, Rigging, Lighting and FX to ensure delivery of dependent assetsIdentify technical gaps that may exist on episodes and implement solutionsTroubleshoot animation and rigging issues and provide solutions for finalizing the animated look of a character or prop into a sceneFoster and enable communication and collaboration across departmentsComplete assigned animation within scheduled timeframeWork with the Production team to ensure timely deliveriesHelp the artists on the team to ensure their output is both technically and artistically correctInitiate and maintain clear communication with Department Leads/Supervisors regarding project status and potential issues that may ariseIdentify potential risks or issues and work on a mitigation strategyWork collaboratively as part of the Senior Production TeamCreate setup files for assigned team, ensuring scene continuity is maintainedBe a positive and creative force on the teamQualifications:2+ years of experience as a Lead Animator in the animation industryProficient in MayaGood knowledge of rigging tools in MayaStrong understanding of key-framed animation development processes, limitations and dependenciesA strong understanding of basic human kinetics and basic real-world physicsThorough understanding of animation principlesStrong leadership, management, and organizational skillsExcellent team player with strong interpersonal skillsAbility to set priorities for yourself and others, as well as manage the progress of workAbility to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficientlyAbility to communicate in a professional and positive mannerAbility to adapt to multiple animation stylesMust be open to direction and able to embrace changeProactive work ethic, capable problem solver with the ability to implement solutionsBonus:Degree/diploma in animation or equivalentShotgun experiencePython and MEL scripting a plusWhy WildBrainAt WildBrain Studios our teams dig into a diverse range of projects – from preschool and comedy to action-adventure, and work with international partners such as Apple, Netflix, LEGO, DreamWorks, BBC, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and more.
