The Department is located in the Life Science Institute (LSI) that is home to approximately 90 research laboratories with 15 Departments organized into nine research clusters, fostering a strong foundation for innovation and collaborations. The Department hosts an active Graduate program with more than 90 students and offers over 15 undergraduate courses and laboratory courses for honours, major and minor Undergraduate programs.RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to the Department Head of the UBC Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, the incumbent will be responsible for:Preparing and developing course material for teaching BIOC 302 Winter Term 1 and Term 2, and Summer Term 2 (3 credits each term) which currently corresponds to 9 credits in total. Teaching includes but is not limited to a range of activities including scheduled courses and undergraduate administrative duties related to the assigned courses. Teaching responsibilities for the Department may change over the time period, and will be assigned by the Head as determined by the needs of the Department.Participation in service activities at all levels within the University and in scholarly/professional communities is important and we encourage you to be fully engaged in service.The successful candidate will have a PhD and post-doctoral training experience and a record that provides evidence of teaching effectiveness. The incumbent will be expected to have exceptional communication skills. Applications from those internal and external to UBC are encouraged.
