Job Description

The British Columbia Public School Employers Association (BCPSEA) supports public education through innovative human resource practices, partnerships, and services. We are the full-service employers association and accredited bargaining agent for BCs 60 public boards of education.BCPSEAs Coordinated Legal and Arbitration Support Services (CLASS) is a shared service that coordinates labour litigation on behalf of BCs 60 public school districts.As Legal Assistant, you will support CLASS Legal Counsel with litigation activities and administrative support. This includes reviewing and organizing case documents, drafting legal correspondence and other assigned duties.This role requires an individual with a keen eye for detail, good judgment, and a proactive work ethic. Additionally, technical saavy and a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office are requirements.Candidates should be knowledgeable in processes relating to labour arbitration, BC Labour Relations Board and BC Human Rights Tribunal matters. In your role, you will be relied upon to assist with compiling relevant provisions and concepts from collective agreements, LOUs, MCMs, arbitration awards, regulatory and other legislative provisions.Working closely with the CLASS Coordinator, your ability to develop positive relationships with BCPSEA District Liaisons, K-12 public school districts, and K-12 sector unions and their representatives is integral to your effectiveness in this role.We are seeking a candidate with a post-secondary legal assistant degree/diploma and three years experience as a legal assistant, preferably in labour law.
