The Legal Assistant, Tribunal provides administrative support to the Tribunal Counsel, as well as members of the Law Society Tribunal as needed.The duties of this position include: · Scheduling, organizing and attending pre-hearing, pre-review or case management conferences and other pre-hearing proceedings and recording orders and directions made by the presiding adjudicator and the parties.· Scheduling and attending hearings and reviews, including arranging for court reporters and security.· Producing and delivering hearing notices pursuant to the Law Society Rules.· Providing administrative support to members of hearing panels and review boards, the Tribunal Chair and Tribunal Counsel as required.· Assisting in preparing hearing decisions, including formatting, correcting and inserting material as needed.· Distribution of final hearing decisions, posting the decisions to the Tribunal pages on the website and sending decisions to QuickLaw and CanLII.· Handling inquiries from the public, members, and staff about discipline histories or ongoing hearings and reviews.· Opening, maintaining, and closing Discipline and Credentials hearing administration and exhibit files and maintaining the member database for file tracking and status.· Photocopying documents or organizing electronic documents for distribution to hearing panels, review boards and counsel.· Processing Tribunal expense claims.· Such other duties as assigned.Qualifications· Some post-secondary education, preferably in a Legal Administrative program.· A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a legal or other professional environment.· Excellent organizational and communication skills.· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows 13.· Familiarity with Zoom and Sync an asset.To apply, please visit our website at https://www.lawsociety.bc.ca/about-us/careers-at-the-law-society/job-postings/.
