The British Columbia Public School Employers Association (BCPSEA) supports public education through innovative human resource practices, partnerships, and services. We are the full-service employers association and accredited bargaining agent for BCs 60 public boards of education.BCPSEAs Coordinated Legal and Arbitration Support Services (CLASS) is a shared service that coordinates labour litigation on behalf of BCs 60 public school districts.As Legal Counsel, you are BCPSEA’s in-house counsel for grievance arbitrations, labour board hearings, and related processes. As a labour law expert, you will advise BCPSEA and school districts on matters related to collective agreements, arbitration awards, and regulatory and other legislative provisions. Moreover, you will provide legal interpretations and advice on complex issues directly impacting strategic planning on provincially significant matters and decision-making at the executive level.Critical to your success will be your ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with BCPSEA district liaisons, school district HR staff, and union representatives.Candidates must be in good standing with the Law Society of BC, have five years of experience as a labour lawyer in BC, and be able to conduct grievance arbitrations independently. Experience in a unionized environment is preferred in K-12 and/or the public sector.
