Consider joining our committed team of staff and being part of an innovative, inclusive, and rewarding workplace.Job Summary: Reporting to the Branch Head, the Supervisor supports the day to day operation of a medium branch while adhering to the Library’s policies and procedures in accordance with the Library’s vision, mission and values. The Supervisor leads the clerical staff team and oversees the clerical work related to the administration of the unit and participates in developing, ensuring and sharing system wide consistent practices, particularly with respect to circulation and clerical administration.Job Requirements:Education/Qualifications:

  • Completion of Twelfth Grade, supplemented by post-secondary level courses, such as supervision, business, computer and library technician courses.
Experience:
  • Five years of public library service, including two or more years of demonstrated successful supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to lead, coach and develop a clerical staff team; excellent team-building and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of VPL current trends and leading practices in areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, applications & software, processes and skills.
  • Understanding of library services, collections, technologies and resources.
  • Strong commitment to serving clients; open, pragmatic and responsive to clients and community.
  • Innovative and flexible in a rapidly changing library environment with the ability to assist staff to participate in and be open to change.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to actively promote the service of the branch to the patrons and work with them to meet their needs and expectations.
