Overview:WildBrain is looking for an experienced UE4 Lighting Supervisor to join our team!In this role, you will be responsible for establishing workflows, managing the lighting team, and training artists in UE4. You will work closely with the Art Director, VFX Supervisor, and various other teams to successfully meet the show’s technical and creative needs.We are currently working virtually because of the Covid-19 pandemic. During this time our hiring teams are ready to support interviews via video conferencing, and we are enabling artists to work from home until the studio can reopen. We’d love to hear from you! #stayhomestaysafe!Responsibilities:Mentoring, training and managing the lighting team in both technical and creative capacitiesManage the lighting and compositing team, assign workload, set and maintain standards of all work completedWork colobratively with all neighbouring departments including the Art Director and Series DirectorOwn and drive the lighting process and workflow for the entire projectEstablish lookdev lighting environment to match the show’s needs on an episodic and series levelAssist with the creation of documentation for lighting best practices and techniquesEnsure and maintain the expected render time, quality and style across the show and seriesLead the team to deliver the show needs on time and to the expected quality standardsCommunicate and work closely with the Series Director, Art Director, CG Supervisor, and the pipeline team to ensure an efficient and creative productionOverseeing the daily activities, leading the department, and establishing best practice workflows and guidelines for the teamReview, debug and improve other team members’ assets, workflows and techniquesMeet production deadlines and maintain regular communication with the production teamImplement workflow, scripts and tools as neededAnticipating, communicating, and troubleshooting any creative or technical issuesOrganizing training for new employees as well as refresher sessions for existing team members in order to keep them up to date with new tools and techniquesWorking closely with management to guide artists overall professional development by providing performance feedback, mentoring, resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale within the teamAssist the Artist Management and Recruiting departments in the the crew selection processBe a positive and creative force in building a healthy work and team cultureCommunicate with other supervisor and team leads on concerns and production issues ahead of timeQualifications:2+ years Supervisory experience in lighting on an Animated Feature film, Feature Quality Episodic production or Cinematic GameTrailer utilising the Unreal EngineProduction experience in UE4 is a mustWorking knowledge of BlueprintsExcellent knowledge of lighting in UE4Expert level understanding, color, lighting, compositing and rendering workflowsPrevious Experience in Lighting Look DevAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a team, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressureExperience using Perforce and Version Control SoftwareAbility to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficientlyExperience with in-engine lighting techniques and workflowsAbility to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas in a professional and positive mannerBonus:Knowledge in MayaShotgun knowledge is a definite plusWhy WildBrainAt WildBrain Studios our teams dig into a diverse range of projects – from preschool and comedy to action-adventure, and work with international partners such as Apple, Netflix, LEGO, DreamWorks, BBC, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and more.
