Job Description

Canadian Tire (Grandview & Bentall) is looking for a full-time uniformed loss prevention officer.Summary: The Loss Prevention Officer works in a fast-paced environment that calls for a calm demeanor, diligence and attention to detail. This is a hands-on role that works on the retail floor assisted by the use of computerized loss prevention software including various CCTV systems. The role also involves cooperative interaction with other LPOs and law enforcement as needed.Main Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Monitor suspicious activity within the business discreetly.
  • Cooperate fully with other LPOs, management, and law enforcement when required.
  • Approach suspects calmly and tactfully for either a request to leave the premises or apprehension.
  • Apprehend suspects for law enforcement to collect when appropriate.
  • Escort suspects from the premises when appropriate.
  • Issue written notices of trespass when appropriate.
  • Update loss prevention software and upload photos to software.
  • Communicate clearly through use of phones, radio,
  • Report on activity daily and review the reports of other LPO members; this includes the collection of information, photos, and video captures when appropriate.
Requirements:
  • A valid security license.
  • A demonstrably calm demeanor and ability to act discreetly.
  • A strong understanding of the law surrounding shoplifting and loss prevention.
  • Basic math and typing skills.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to listen carefully and to give precise instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment that provides assistance and support to co-workers to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt and cope with challenging and changing situations.
  • Positive attitude, punctuality and solid work ethic.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Standing/walking for 8 hours.
  • Preparedness to deal with confrontation and potentially hazardous individuals.
  • Carrying of merchandise items, as required, on a regular, frequent and unassisted basis.
Job Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: From $19.00 per hourAdditional pay:
