Reporting to the Director, Corporate Finance, the successful candidate will oversee the Airport Authority’s project investments, support the business case evaluations and monitoring of the execution of the projects that are critical to enabling the Airport Authority’s strategic plan.Key responsibilities include:

• Review business cases and other project related documentation to ensure they provide sufficient information to support decision-making on project investments.
• Support the teams writing the business cases to ensure they meet professional standards, are complete and accurate, and reflect the impacts to the business.
• Determine the necessary approval requirements for each business case in accordance with the Airport Authority’s Signing Policy and other governance requirements.
• Lead the process and be the steward of the annual and multi-year project investment budget as part of the overall organization’s budget in conjunction with the Finance Business Partnering team. Facilitate the prioritization of business cases to align with the strategic priorities.
• Monitor project performance and outcomes expected from those investments through schedule and cost/budget updates and continuous communication with Project Managers. This individual plays a key role in providing oversight on the benefits that are expected from the project investments, monitoring that those benefits are on track to be realized.
• Leverage data, automation and internal systems to facilitate the business case reviews and project status monitoring to provide up-to-date information, and also flag issues that may have emerged regarding project progress.
• Lead improvement initiatives as necessary to enable a more efficient process, flow of information and decision-making.
• Provide monthly and quarterly reports and insights on overall Project Investment performance regarding project scope and outcomes, schedule and budget, and cash flow to senior management.
• Provide senior management with information necessary for the planning of future initiatives and annual programs.Support other processes that enable project investments, such as procurement processes, government grant applications and reporting, accounting for projects, including accruals and cost allocations.
• Provide leadership to the broader organizational team and one direct report. This includes providing support and direction by: creating clarity and alignment, developing and coaching team members, helping the team embrace change and building resiliency, monitoring work efforts and performance, hiring, coaching, motivating and supporting developmental activities, conducting formal evaluations and applying appropriate discipline.

Key qualifications include:

• Over 5 years of recent, related and progressive experience preferably with at least 2 years in a management capacity within a mid- to large-sized complex organization leading a team of 2+ personnel
• Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Strong Excel experience
• Experience in Maximo and Oracle E-Business Suite or Fusion an asset
• Project management or portfolio management software experience preferred
• Experience working in the construction industry beneficial
• Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills applied in developing well founded conclusions
• Experience with sizeable process improvements and transformations leading to increased efficiencies
• Exceptional presentation skills
• Proven leadership skills with direct people management experience and with implementing change.
• Relationship building skills with key internal and external stakeholders, with strong interpersonal, communication and listening skills
• Ability to manage numerous demanding tasks/projects under tight timelines.
