Bring your unique strengths, perspectives and experiences to the port authority and join us in charting a course toward a sustainable future.The Manager, Talent Acquisition is responsible for developing an innovative world-class talent strategy by building our employer brand that positions the port authority as a destination for top talent. This role will oversee all areas of the talent life cycle from employer brand, employee value proposition, talent attraction and selection strategy.In this role, the successful candidate will:Accountabilities

  • Bridge the connection between workforce planning priorities into talent acquisition strategy
  • Develop a resourceful new hire onboarding and off boarding program
  • Maintain knowledge of the industry best practices, emerging trends, technological advancements and benchmark comparisons to be competitive in state-of-the-art recruiting practices
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the talent acquisition team to ensure recruitment and selection processes follow best practices and compliance with all relevant legislation, work is organized and efficient with daily practices including: the management of all online applications, interview procedures and training, job postings, as well as ongoing talent sourcing and pipelining
  • Oversee all external job board sites
  • Understand the talent mix, develop personas by department, to actively market and engage to the right candidates
  • Execute and track talent marketing campaigns through select channels to drive candidates for hard to fill roles
  • Provide subject matter expertise to HRIS, applicant tracking system
  • Ensure EDI best practices are implemented in the entire talent life cycle
  • Provide advice and training to people managers on recruitment best practices
Leadership and Management
  • Participate in the development of departmental plans and be responsible for the development and implementation of activities and programs designed to meet the intention of specific strategic priorities
  • Participate as a member of various management and inter-departmental teams in the planning, implementation and management of business initiatives
  • Plan, implement and review departmental staffing requirements for areas of responsibility, including the determination of clear position descriptions, accountabilities and reporting arrangements to optimize service delivery to all stakeholders
  • Manage subordinates, ensuring that team and individuals are motivated, have defined position descriptions and reporting arrangements, their performance goals are clear and actively managed and development needs are defined and addressed
  • Participate in the planning and the review of departmental operating costs, particularly with regard to staffing requirements, overheads, consultancy services, planned business programs and service provision
  • Articulate and live the VFPA culture and values, set an example by modelling the required behaviours and hold others (staff and peers) accountable for their actions by identifying and acting on behaviour, which is inconsistent with agreed standards and values
Specific CompetenciesMust have excellent change leadership qualities and management skills. Must possess excellent communication skills to effectively interface with all contacts including all levels of business and the public to represent VFPA as a dynamic organization prepared to seize opportunities for VFPA as a world-class port. Must have a strong customer service orientation while managing a breadth of responsibilities. Must also demonstrate effective decision-making, planning and initiative, while fostering the development of all of these competencies in VFPA’s emerging leaders.The Talent Acquisition Manager is deeply passionate about the candidate experience, all things marketing, social recruiting, employment brand and recruiting operations.Education & Experience
  • A university degree in human resources, or a related discipline plus at least 5 years’ experience in talent sourcing, recruiting, and employer branding
  • In depth knowledge of recruiting practices, metrics, assessment tools and techniques
  • Strong background in talent systems (ATS, HRIS, LinkedIn) and building/delivering metrics and reporting
  • Experience in social recruiting, online presence management, employer branding and talent analytics
  • Strong written communication skills- mastered how to communicate succinctly and to differing audiences
  • Deep experience leveraging innovative sourcing channels for recruiting
  • Have deep understanding of the leading edge talent acquisition practices ranging from operating model design to process optimization, to technology enablement to AI and RPA among others
  • Experience leading teams and strong coaching and mentoring capabilities
  • Strong thought leadership, industry presence and innovation track record
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly complex and matrixed partnership
  • Resiliency to handle shifting priorities and maintain demeanor in high intensity situations
