In joining the team you will be asked to:Support and help prepare deliverables for projects (i.e. drawings and specifications) under supervision of senior engineersPerform detailed engineering based on guidelines for mandates involving heavy machinery, conveyors, pumping systems, crushers, mills, flotation tanks, thickeners and metallurgical processesCarry out engineering calculations using software (ANSYS etc) and check with hand calculations. CFD and FEA are the predominant areas of design for our departmentLearn and apply appropriate codes and standardsPresent technical informationProduce technical data sheets, specifications and design basis documentsOccasionally coordinate the work of draftspersons or other non-professionals at the request of a senior engineerOccasionally attend site visits to perform inspections, quality checks and to witness testingSkillsProactive and prepared to take accountabilityDrive for closure – don’t leave tasks hangingCreativity and innovation in providing solutionsStrong safety and quality awarenessDetail orientatedEager to learn and aptitude for self-developmentStrong communication skills – written and verbalRequirementsUniversity degree in Mechanical EngineeringTwo years of relevant experience in consultingUnderstanding of design codes: ASME, CSA, API, BC Building Code etcExperience in mechanical engineering in the industrial, energy or mining sectorsExcellent knowledge of MS Office suite and other applications as well as databases and interfacesKnowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, TRACE 700, AFT Fathom, ANSYS, SmartPlantBBA is committed to promoting diversity and employment equity.
