By pushing forward in fields like AI, analytics and cloud-to-edge technology, Intel’s work is at the heart of countless innovations.The EPG FNIC group within the Data Center Group is looking for Network Firmware Engineer to focus on the 1/10GbE Firmware area of functionality of Intel wired Ethernet products engaging with internal development teams and external customers. Although this a global position, the successful applicant will provide product level support for a large variety of North American customers ranging from embedded to Tier 1.As a Firmware Application Engineer in our networking group, you will:

  • Own and resolve technical issues for existing products.
  • Participate in new product development.
  • Review customer designs and provide design-in guidance, representing the customers technical needs inside Intel.
  • Collaborate with other Network Division Engineering disciplines and in general contributing toward making the wired Ethernet customer successful.
  • You may also develop technical collateral including application notes to provide clarity for implementation or specific usage and develop/present technical product training materials.
  • Act as a technical expert, consultants, analysts, and program manager.
  • Respond to customer requests or events as they occur.
  • Develop solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgment.
Some travel may be required, domestic and international as appropriate based on customer and training needs.QualificationsYou must possess the below minimum education requirements and minimum required qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent and 3+ years of experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in C/C++/Assembler programming.
  • 1+ year experience with direct customer interaction in technical support role.
  • Experience with network deployment of the OSes, including Windows, Linux, RTOS.
  • Experience with defect tracking applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with low-level software/ HW debugging.
  • Experience working in Linux and Windows development environments.
  • Experience working in a lab on silicon bring up.
  • Experience with Wired Ethernet Firmware - preferably Intel 1/10GbE Ethernet products. Experience with PC platform Firmware.
  • Experience with drivers and HW oriented SW.
  • Python programming skills.
  • Experience with TCP/IP networking stack, especially physical and link layer protocols.
