The incumbent is responsible for answering inquiries from our 311 contact centre and EMPRO, responding directly to clients over email and phone, processing mail and payments, creating and editing a variety of licence folders and performing a variety of clerical duties.Key Contacts and Reporting RelationshipsThe position reports to Manager, Licence OfficeSpecific Duties/ResponsibilitiesDuties include:

  • processing mail, payments and various documents and invoices;
  • issuing business licences;
  • working independently with little supervision and as a team member; accessing and researching information on department systems and internet is an integral part of the position,
  • answering inquiries regarding the Licence Bylaw, including taking and responding to queries from the public.
  • works with various departments and agencies, both internally and externally, in the City of Vancouver.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualification RequirementsEducation and Experience:Completion of Grade 12 including or supplemented by related commercial courses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, AMANDA, POSSE, EMPRO, Kana; demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced environment and the ability for accurate data entry; excellent communication skills and ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and staff, including difficult patrons.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to work in a high volume environment with frequent interruptions and changing processes and priorities with minimal direction.
  • Ability to problem solve and perform duties in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures;
  • Experience in cash handling, processing cheques and debit/credit card transactions and daily reconciliation
  • Working knowledge of Licence Bylaw is an asset.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Amanda, POSSE, EMPRO
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and staff
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Work effectively independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 – 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite.
