Job Description

Mobile Optician or Optometric Assistant MOBILE EYES OPTOMETRY has been providing mobile eye care to seniors for over 20 years. We provide much needed eye care for individuals who are immobile and reside at long-term care facilities throughout Vancouver, the North Shore, Richmond, Burnaby, New Westminster & Coquitlam.We are looking for a reliable, patient and caring Optician (greater compensation) or Optometric Assistant who is interested in assisting our optometrists in the Care Facilities where we see our patients. This position involves meeting the optometrist at the Care Facility where we set up our equipment in a private room to conduct eye exams.

  • Your job is to ensure that the care staff at the Care Facility brings the patients at the scheduled time of their appointment and to do simple pretesting (near visual acuity), glasses adjustments or repairs and select new glasses for those who require it. Your friendly conversation and interaction with our patients is important and helps them feel at ease while they wait to have their eyes tested. Once the eye exam is complete you will return them to their appropriate nurse or care aid. No lifting or bending is required.
  • On a given day you may be asked to transport the equipment between our office and the care home and you will receive significant compensation (extra bonus) for your time to do this. Our office is located on West Broadway near Burrard St.
  • Experience as an Optician or previous experience in an Optometrists office or Optical Store is of great value, but not critical. We will provide training on site.
***To enter a care home, you must be FULLY VACCINATED at least two weeks prior to working and you must have a valid Criminal Record Check or be willing to obtain one asap.This position has the potential to turn into a full-time position in the future.Please submit a cover letter with your CV and indicate your available days of the week and whether you have your own vehicle.
