Job Description

Position: Pattern MakerTeam: Pattern MakingReports to: Director of ProductBased at: Head Office; Vancouver; BCJob purpose:Pattern Makers work closely with the Design and Product Development teams to produce patterns; perform grading and create markers for prototypes; samples and production.Key responsibilities and accountabilities:(Including but not limited to)

  • Interpret Designer intent to ensure desired fit and balance
  • Create patterns and markers for prototypes; samples and production
  • Generate and maintain finished garment measurement specifications
  • Grade patterns by creating and maintaining graded measurement specifications
  • Ensure patterns and markers are consistent with factory capabilities and processes
  • Ensure markers are cost effective and minimize waste of material
  • Participate in fit sessions to determine and resolve fit/balance issues
  • Monitor prototype or sample progress and coordinate with internal teams to ensure deadlines are met
  • Effectively communicate design intent and construction to factory staff as needed
Required
  • Post-secondary education in fashion and/or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years’ solid work experience in pattern making
  • Proficient with Gerber Accumark, Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator applications
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems such as Visual 2000
  • Knowledge of men’s and women’s wear
  • Ability to work from both sketches and existing patterns
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of fabrics, skill in garment construction and sewing sufficient to create prototypes/mock-ups as needed
  • Great written and verbal communicator
  • Ability to adapt to sudden design changes
  • Meticulous attention to detail and team player
