Job Description

Would you love to be a part of a high-energy, fast-paced, and ever changing tech environment If so, this role might be for you!Job SummaryAs our new Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you’ll be well versed in all things payroll and benefits related. You’ll be able to apply your keen understanding to administer payroll and benefits in Canada, the US and the UK. You are eager to develop your skills in a fast-paced environment, helping the business scale through its next phase of growth, working as part of a close-knit team.What You Will Be Doing

  • Prepare and maintain semi-monthly Canadian and monthly UK payroll using best practices and your expertise in payroll tax and payroll reporting
  • Oversee and reconcile US payroll obligations prepared by a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) and determine when would be the best time to bring US payroll and benefits in house
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and processes to ensure statutory compliance, managing appropriate responses to tax or regulatory notices/requests
  • Analyze and resolve any payroll discrepancies; providing recommendations to improve the processes as necessary
  • Ensure accurate tax withholdings, benefit deductions, and expense reimbursements for employees (including RRSP, 401k, and extended health)
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for payroll, taxes, benefits, PTO, and other payroll-related accounts each month
  • Preparation of year end T4 slips
  • Monitor and analyze expenses against the payroll budget
  • Keep abreast of update and changes in payroll regulation
About You
  • Certified. You have the Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification.
  • Experienced. We are looking for someone with 4+ years’ experience in the Payroll and Benefits profession.
  • Solid communication. Whether it is written or verbal, people know what you mean, what you are asking for, and what is expected.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Team-player. While you are comfortable handling your own work, you’re keen to be part of a team and contribute to the success of the overall business.
  • Eager. You’re self-motivated and willing to own tasks and deliverables, and always open to taking on new challenges.
  • Organized. You can handle multiple deliverables and multiple deadlines, clearly understanding what is required of you and managing expectations.
  • Discretion. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme caution with sensitive information.
