Job Description

Job Title: Program Coordinator 2 (PC2)Collective Agreement: Community Subsector AssociationUnion: HEUClassification: 82902 - Client Services – Classification Grid 38Wage: $28.56 - $30.63Reports to: Executive DirectorBenefitsExtended Health Care, Dental Care, Vision Care, Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, Wellness Program, Pension PlanJOB DESCRIPTIONHOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday: 8:30 – 4:00SCOPE AND LEVEL DEFINITION: As an integral part of a team, the Program Coordinator 2 will develop, implement, and evaluate a person-centered approach to therapeutic activities conforming to Vancouver Coastal Health proposed Adult Day Program Model and Program expectations that will support elders and adults with a variety of complex health challenges and of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds living in the community. The Program Coordinator 2 will provide supervision to recreation staff, and students or volunteers that are assigned to programs.RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing leadership for the plan/vision of the therapeutic program
  • Working collaboratively with staff to develop, implement, and evaluate strategic plans, goals, and objectives for therapeutic programs
  • Participating in recruitment and selection of staff by performing duties such as screening applicants, participating on interview panels, providing input into the development of interview questions, and making hiring recommendations
  • Ensuring continuous service quality improvement by providing leadership and mentoring with activity workers by assigning work, providing feedback and program evaluation, and determining and facilitating training requirements, along with orientating new staff
  • Resolving staffing problems, including calling in staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Ensuring that all client documentation is complete in relationship to care plans.
  • In conjunction with Executive Director, developing partnerships with community groups and health care professionals to identify trends in health promotion programs for seniors and to develop corresponding programs that broaden and enhance client services.
  • Identifying or participating in the response to new funding opportunities
  • Developing and evaluating wellness programs and projects.
  • Providing program support and direct client care as needed.
  • Facilitating recruitment, orientation, training and supervision of students and volunteers.
  • Performing budget duties such as developing budget submissions, preparing and presenting budget justifications and presentations, monitoring expenditures, following up on anomalies, and taking action to resolve problems.
  • Determining recreational supply needs and organize the purchasing or ordering of these supplies within budgetary considerations.
  • Overseeing the organization and verification of daily client transportation schedules.
  • Leading daily planning meetings with activity workers.
  • Completing and delivering annual performance appraisals of activity staff as directed by the Executive Director.
  • Representing Renfrew-Collingwood Seniors Society on committees as directed by the Executive Director.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years recent experience in the development and evaluation of therapeutic and health promotion programs for older adults and in development and facilitation of adult education programs.
  • Demonstrated skill in team leadership, problem solving, interpersonal relations and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent skills in communication (oral, written and presentation) and research and development.
  • Demonstrated ability in organizational, planning, decision making and analytical reasoning skills.
  • Computer competency in data management, word processing, internet and presentation software
  • Certificates in CPR and First Aid
