Operations now span across North America, with locations throughout Canada and the United States with new markets that include Boston, Los Angeles, and Washington DC.POSITION OVERVIEWThe ‘Programs and Training Coordinator (Swim Focus) position is all about supporting our employees in their roles by creating the materials and training they need to succeed. Half of this position is focused on supporting the Swim Management Team with their materials. Time will be spent at the pools, capturing information from these Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), which will be used to create engaging materials and ensure there is consistency across our programs. Other aspects of this role will include varied projects and tasks, such as online training content creation and training facilitation.You will be part of the ‘small yet mighty Programs & Training (P&T) team, where you will support the development and implementation of programming and training initiatives for Pedalheads. You will support the ongoing development, delivery and maintenance of training programs and materials of all our programs, with a special focus on our Pedalheads Swim program. You will ensure materials are aligned between programs and will work towards a successful learning experience for all.RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESProgrammingSupports the P&T Management in implementation of new programming initiatives company-wide, ensuring the Swim Management team is equipped to execute changes accordinglyWorks with Swim Management team and P&T Management to update and improve current program for 50% of their role, supports other programs with tasks assigned for the other 50%Collaborates with P&T and Swim Management team to update existing and develop new guidelines for policies and procedures.Prepares content & coordinates the development of teaching aids, including activities and games, and manuals for swim programTrainingCollaborates with Recreation Business Manager, Aquatics to develop and maintain training programs for Pedalheads SwimConsults and collaborates with internal Swim Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop and evaluate learning objectives and build training accordinglySupports the P&T Management in the development and implementation of new and revised training initiatives:Bike, Trail, & Swim Online Training ContentBike, Trail, & Swim In-Person Training ContentWorks with P&T Management to prepare proposals for training changes and new initiatives based on observations and employee feedbackSupports facilitation of Pedalheads Bike Site Leader TrainingSupports facilitation of Train-the-Trainer sessions for Instructor trainings for Pedalheads BikeCOMPETENCIESCommunicator – You know how to get the message across effectively and consistently to different audiencesEducator – You are a dynamic and effective teacher who recognizes the importance of teaching methods and skill developmentRelationship Builder – You can build and maintain trusting relationships across all departments and functional roles, such as the swim team, site leaders, instructors, colleagues, customers and hiring resourcesMentorship – You lead by example, and can develop and motivate employeesOrganizer and planner – You understand the importance of planning ahead, organizing all the details, and creating schedulesFlexible & Adaptable – You can adjust quickly to changing situations; cope effectively with complexity and change; and are able to work occasional evening and weekends during training seasonTeam Player – You thrive on collaborating with others and have a ‘can-do attitude!Creative – You can think of new and creative ways to implement learning materials and equipmentFun – You understand the importance of team bonding and creates an open and social workspaceYou can use the examples above and/or create ones relevant to the role.QUALIFICATIONSMinimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job. These are the qualifications that are necessary for someone to be considered for the position.Qualifications include:Post-secondary education in Sports Recreation, Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience as a teacher, supervisor, and/or trainer of childrens recreational programs for at least 2 yearsUnderstands childrens development, learning principles, instructional design principles, and/or various learning approachesExperience with MS Office Suite or a similar productAbility to travel is a mustThis role is based in Vancouver, BC, and requires a valid drivers licenseAssets (but not required) include:Experience in developing and/or facilitating training in a small to medium-sized organizationExperience with learning management systems and eLearning authoring toolsBilingual (English/French)Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard-Pool Option, or other Sports and Recreation CertificationsOUR CULTUREAt Pedalheads, we are a collaborative team and we seek feedback and buy-in whenever it is possible.
