Closing Date: July 14, 2022Reporting to the Principal Geologist, as part of the Geoscience Services team based in Vancouver, BC, the Project Geologist (Modeling) will support integrated geoscience initiatives and technical solutions to Teck’s base-metal operations and advanced-stage projects. Responsibilities include in-depth analysis and advanced 3D-modeling of multidisciplinary datasets to effectively inform project studies and provide technical solutions spanning the mining value chain.The ideal candidate has field experience in exploration and/or production environments, with strong practical and analytical skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and to communicate with partners and consultants.Responsibilities:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Perform in-depth analysis and advanced 3D modeling of multidisciplinary datasets to support resource/reserve estimation, resource expansion, geotechnical, geometallurgical and environmental initiatives.
• In collaboration with Teck geoscience and modeling domain experts, ensure that all geoscience data used in 3D modelling is fit for purpose and has undergone a QAQC process.
• Ensure that the geology and resource potential of specific projects is well understood through the integration, analysis and interpretation of geoscience data and the creation of geological models to advise decision making.
• Develop 3D geologic models that will advise resource estimation, engineering, geometallurgical, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and environmental studies.
• As the need arises, assist in preparation of mineral resource block models in accordance with Teck’s standards, applying applicable geostatistical techniques.
• Provide technical support to achieve leading practice in geoscience data acquisition, validation, analysis, and modeling.
• Identify and apply geoscience solutions to increase operational efficiency and foresee development project challenges/opportunities.
• Collaborate with the wider community of technical professionals across Teck to ensure professional best practices and standards are applied and shared.
• Maintain an understanding of applicable regulatory requirements including N.I. 43-101, the CIM Standards and Best Practice Guidelines, and bylaws of the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia

Key Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Geosciences or Engineering
• Registered or eligible for professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant exploration and/or mining experience, including geological 3D modeling.
• Proficiency in 3D geological modeling software such as, but not exclusive to: Leapfrog, Vulcan, MinePlan, and Gocad.
• Experience with large, multi-disciplinary datasets from diverse geological and deposit settings.
• Experience in the application of resource estimation and geostatistics is an asset.
• Proficiency in Geological database, mapping and data analysis software would be highly regarded (acQuire, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, ioGas, Python , R, Orange etc)
• Exposure to project and mine engineering principles, metallurgical and processing techniques, environmental and material stewardship considerations
• Demonstrated understanding of how geoscience impacts mining value drivers.
• Proactive and motivated teammate, willing to learn new skills.
• Proficient in the English language; proficiency in Spanish is an asset.
• Dedication to safety and environmental protection as a core value.
