Reporting to the Quality Engineer, this position will be responsible for the handling and inspection of incoming optical and mechanical parts to ensure the parts meet specification before release to stock.Responsibilities:Measure, test and visually inspect Incoming Parts against Part Drawings and QC Guides.Read and interpret GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) and other specifications defined on part drawings and QC Guides.Operate and maintain various measurement instruments and devices in the Optical QC Area. These include specialized jigs and equipment with lasers for measuring Reflectivity, Optical density, Transmission, Surface Figure, Surface Power, Surface Radius, Total Wavefront Distortion, Humidity Sensitivity, etc.Operate and maintain various measurement instruments and devices in the mechanical QC Area. These include the CMM with Calypso software, Micrometers, Calipers, Gage Blocks, Microscopes, Comparator, Profile Projector MU Checker, Dial Indicators, Granite Table, Height Gage, Borematics, Pin Gages.Follow safety protocol including laser safety requirements.Complete inspections, record results and communicate inspection status in a timely manner. Focusing on both accuracy and productivity.Initiate Non-Conformance reports and ensure parts failing specification are identified and moved to the Nonconforming part location.Requirements:Post-secondary education or equivalent experienceAble to lift heavy loads (~40 lbs.)Able to perform visual inspections using a microscopeExperience reading GD&T and specifications on drawings is a major asset.Experience using and programming a CMM with Calypso software is an asset. As is experience using other Mechanical part measurement and inspection instruments and devices.Experience using Optical part measurement and inspection instruments and devices is an assetDetail oriented and accurate.Proficiency in use of Excel spreadsheets for maintaining inspection records and performing data analysis.Able to apply written and verbal communication skills.Positive attitude, flexible, and willing to adapt and learn.
