Job Description

Company ProfileMinto Metals, a producing underground copper mine has exciting opportunities to become part of our team and live by our Company values – Be Safe, Be Honest, Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Great!PositionWe are seeking Reclamation Coordinator for a full-time/regular position. This is a fly-in, fly-out position at the Minto mine site with travel to Whitehorse, YT and charter flight to site every Thursday travel day. Rotation is 2 week on/2 week off. Travel to/from Whitehorse and mine site is paid for by the Company.The Ideal CandidateYou will have:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Environmental Sciences (or completion of Reclamation Specialty Programs) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional Association - the candidate will need to be registered or become eligible for registration as a professional, with a professional association as required by the specialty area (i.e. Agrology, Forestry, Biology, Engineering)
  • 7+ years’ experience in closure and reclamation planning and project management aspects of mining or natural resource projects
  • Technical knowledge and demonstrated experience in large-scale, detailed reclamation planning and project management controls
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex projects
  • The ability to produce clear, concise writing in technical reports and effective communications
  • Solid understanding of Yukon and federal regulatory approvals practices, legislation, and regulations
  • The ability to work independently
  • Proven capabilities working productively in project teams
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license
Responsibilities
  • Manage the development and maintenance of long-term strategy and programs for reclamation sequencing, budgeting, and implementation at Minto Mine including the continued design and implementation of the Reclamation and Closure Plan (must be revised every 2 years)
  • Oversee contractors and consultants supporting or implementing Reclamation and Closure Plan, focusing on progressive reclamation in the short-term
  • Maintain relationships with regulators, Selkirk First Nation, Yukon University and local interested parties regarding reclamation strategy and planning
  • Coordinate with personnel in operations to maintain alignment between long-term reclamation strategy and current short, mid, and long-term Mine Plans
  • Provide detailed reporting on scope, schedule, and budget of reclamation projects, including working with operations and permitting teams to develop cost estimates for annual budgeting cycles
  • Identify areas for innovation to ensure continuous improvement of the reclamation planning processes, and direct work as required
  • Assist with preparing regulatory approval submissions acting as a subject matter expert for reclamation
  • Practice and actively promote company environmental, health, safety and operational policies and procedures
  • Be the most senior environment staff on site when the Manager, Environment is working in Whitehorse. Responsible for day-to-day management of environment team; focused on environmental monitoring and day to day environmental issue management. This will include:
    • Supervise the site environmental team conducting reviews of site activities for environmental non-conformances and monitor all environmental systems to determine where improvements can be made
    • Prepare/review and submit on a timely basis all reports dictated by current and future permits plus any other reports that may be required
    • Advise management and supervisory staff on environmental issues, ensuring that environmental objectives are achieved

  • Knowledge and advanced editing experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Vegetation or soils knowledge
  • Erosion and sedimentation management
  • Natural revegetation
