Job Description

Pitt Meadows Plumbing and Mechanical Systems has been a leader in the industry for over 40 years. We specialize in pre-fabrication, modular systems and installation of large scale residential, commercial, institutional, educational, and medical design-build plumbing and mechanical projects.We are currently looking for Red Seal Pipefitters to work on Oakridge Energy – District Energy System Project in Vancouver. This is a_ full-time, long-term employment_ opportunity.Oakridge Energy is developing a large low-carbon district energy system to provide space heating, domestic water heating, and space cooling to meet the needs of the 28-acre Oakridge Centre redevelopment. The system will generate energy using a closed-loop geo-exchange system, waste heat recovery, electric chillers, and a combination of electric and natural gas boilers.PMP has been awarded the mechanical trade contract for Phase 1 of the project which includes the Central Energy Plant, Distribution Piping System, Condenser Water System, Energy Transfer Stations, and HVAC systems. This scope includes the installation of boilers, pumps, chillers, heat pumps, heat exchanges, and large bore process piping up to 30” in diameter across the redevelopment. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and P&IDs of the assigned project(s).
  • Plan and layout mechanical services.
  • Install mechanical services in accordance with the drawings and specifications.
  • Fabrication and installation of pressure piping systems in accordance with latest B31.1 and B31.9 codes
  • Lays out, measures, cuts, fits for welders
  • Performs rigging, bolt up, tensioning, and hydro testing
  • Keeps their working area clean and tidy.
  • Coordinate basic installation with other sub-trades.
  • Comply with the job site QAQC requirements.
  • Read and understand the site health and safety policies. Ensure all rules and regulations are followed while working on site.
  • Must be competent in modern technology to improve work quality and efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Job requirements:
  • Demonstrated passion for safety.
  • Lead by example every day.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Detail-oriented worker and organized.
  • Completion of Pipe Fitting Red Seal Certification program.
  • Bolt up and hydro testing experience.
  • Experienced in all types of rigging.
  • Demonstrate a high level of accuracy in layout, measuring, and cutting
  • Oil and gas experience, and working with large bore piping systems a plus
  • Able to use appropriate, trade-related technology
  • Assembles and installs piping sections according to blueprints and job specifications
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Able to work from heights of up to 25 feet in the air on scissor lifts or ladders
  • Mechanically inclined to work safely with hand tools and power tools
  • Able to withstand high-stress and fast-paced environment on a construction site
  • Team player that must be able to work well with others on construction sites, including PMP employees, contractors, sub-trades and others
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must have good English skills
Job Conditions:
  • Working at heights off ladders and ariel platforms
  • Standing on your feet 8 hours a day
  • Walking up and down stairs all day long
  • Walking through uneven grounds on construction sites
  • Navigating around obstacles on construction sites, such as heavy equipment, cars, trucks
  • Lifting your arms above your head for extended periods of time
  • Crouching, bending, and kneeling
