In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.Posting End DateDecember 1, 2022Note: Applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM on the day prior to the Posting End Date above.Job End DateDec 1, 2023This position is located within a health-care facility, therefore, the successful candidate will be required to provide verification of full vaccination against Covid-19 provided prior to the start date, as required by a provincial health mandate.This offer is conditional upon successful completion of a Criminal Record Check.Job SummaryThe Research Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day operations, oversight, and coordination of the BRAIN Lab, conducting clinical and systems-based psychiatric research. This will include support of application for funding and coordinating a diverse portfolio of projects spanning topics related to impulsivity, decision-making, and treatment of addictions and concurrent disorders. In conjunction with the Principle Investigator (PI), the coordinator will establish the team s research direction through event organization, applications for funding, research administration, and building new partnerships.Organizational StatusThe Research Coordinator for the BRAIN Lab will report directly to the PI, Dr. Christian Schütz. The incumbent will be expected to support and supervise work done by a post-doctoral fellow, graduate students and medical residents, and Work Learn research assistants.Work Performed

  • Coordinates various research projects and interventions in the group;
  • Prepares grant applications by writing, editing, and proofing the applications;
  • Writes budget proposals for research projects and interventions including cost projections;
  • Submits ethics reports on behalf of the PI;
  • Participates in designing research protocols;
  • Support the analyzes of data and reviews results;
  • Maintains the Lab website and coordinates knowledge translation efforts;
  • Supervises junior research group members;
  • Sources potential funding opportunities;
  • Coordinates applications for future project ideas;
  • Coordinates conferences and events;
  • Performs other duties as required.
Consequence of Error/JudgementAccountability and responsibility of this position is high. The consequences of errors could include: lost data, financial difficulty, compromised integrity of research, and success of research project.Supervision ReceivedThe incumbent is expected to be self-directed and take initiative. This individual follows established policies, procedures and institutional standards of UBC and Providence Health Care.Supervision GivenThis position supervises up to a dozen research staff, students, and volunteers at any given time.Minimum QualificationsUndergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Qualifications Degree in psychology, health sciences, statistics, or computer science preferred. Demonstrated experience related to research, grant writing, management, and administration. Experience in qualitative and quantitative epidemiologic research methods, analysis and study design. Experience with budgeting and financial experience. Experience working in administrative or research capacity at UBC an asset. Ability to perform financial and budgeting planning functions. Ability to effectively use Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, SPSS, Drupal, Adobe Acrobat at an advanced level. Ability to compose correspondence, reports, presentations, and other written materials using clear concise business English. Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet short deadlines. Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities. Ability to be thorough, accurate, and have a high level of attention to detail. Ability to initiate and conduct research projects. Ability to identify and analyze key results from scientific, statistical, and quantitative research findings. Ability to deal with a diversity of people in a calm, courteous, and effective manner. Ability to effectively lead and plan meetings. Ability to analyze problems, identify key information and issues, and effectively resolve. Fluency in social media.
