Job Description

Restorative Justice: healing harm, preventing crime, transforming livesPosition: Restorative Justice in Education Initiative (RJEI) Program ManagerFull-time (35 hours per week), permanentReports to Executive DirectorProgram and Role: NSRJ’s Restorative Justice in Education Initiative (RJEI) provides and promotes restorative approaches to conflict and harm while proactively supporting youth, schools, and communities in developing just and equitable spaces for learning and living. The RJEI Program Manager will oversee the delivery and guide development of all programs under the RJEI umbrella.Primary ResponsibilitiesProgram Development

  • Provide strategic planning and visioning for the Restorative Justice in Education Initiative. Develop goals, objectives, and strategies.
  • Ensure that program materials and curriculum reflects current theory, cultural safety and relevance, uses appropriate educational technologies and current best practices.
  • Assist with grant writing as needed to build and maintain RJEI financial sustainability.
Program Management:
  • Ensure effective delivery of all RJEI programs, which are: Circles in Schools, Restorative Engagement in Schools, Justice Labs, Youth Action Council, Speaker Series, and professional development offerings to schools and other organizations.
  • Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of all RJEI programs, including development of data assessment tools and analyzing data to ensure that the Initiative is meeting its goals and objectives.
  • Draft reports, including annual summary, board reports, grant reporting, etc.
Staff Management:
  • Manage RJEI staff team of approximately four. Empower staff to do their best possible work and maintain a work environment that embodies NSRJ’s values of respect, trust, collaboration, inclusivity, humility, compassion and forgiveness.
  • Implement effective HR practices for hiring, onboarding, scheduling, supervision and training of RJEI staff.
Stakeholder Relations:
  • Maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders, such as School District staff, administrators, teachers, Indigenous Nations, professional associations, and youth-serving organizations on the North Shore. This includes delivering presentations, scheduling and facilitating meetings, and engaging in informal communication.
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop collaborative strategic partnerships that are aligned with, and strengthen, the values and vision of the Restorative Justice in Education Initiative.
  • Represent the organization at community events and attend relevant community meetings
Other:
  • Attend and support one NSRJS committee which includes following up on committee decisions and actions items. Committee meetings may be held in the evenings or otherwise outside of regular working hours.
We are looking for someone with:
  • Familiarity with restorative processes and the principles and values of restorative justice
  • Strong background and commitment to anti-oppression, anti-racism, and/or decolonization
  • Experience working with children and youth. Knowledge of child/youth development and key aspects of social-emotional learning
  • Demonstrated abilities in program management, building healthy teams, and administration
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Integrity and independence
  • Diverse lived experience

Terms:
  • Start date: approximately Sep 5, 2022
  • Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Salary: $58K-65K annually, commensurate with experience
  • Benefits: eligible for extended benefits plan after 3 months of employment, 3 weeks’ paid vacation, 10 paid sick days, 3 paid flex days, $100 self care, $300 professional development
  • Location: Position requires travel to various school sites in North and West Vancouver; NSRJ office located at 1733 Lions Gate Ln, North Vancouver, BC V7P 0C7; and other locations as needed. Milage beyond to/from North Shore is reimbursed. When programming allows, remote work is an option.
