Job Description

Modern Niagara helps building owners, managers, and general contractors meet their mechanical, integrated building technology, and building services needs across Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Southwestern Ontario, and Ottawa. With work starting at very large projects coming out of the ground across this great city and are looking for talented, engaging, professional tradespeople who would like to help us with field recruiting. The field recruiter plays a key role in finding, screening, and selecting high quality candidates to work for Modern Niagara in the field.This role will bring the opportunity to build lasting relationships, and to collaborate on methods and strategies in talent recruitment. Find innovative ways to attract, engage, and hire the top talent. Engage the local unions and attend union meetings. Arrange speaking opportunities at trade schools, supplier events, or other pertinent events that may benefit the recruitment process.This position is a full-time position. Here, your knowledge, skills, and excellent service will help ensure that the buildings that make up Canada’s infrastructure fulfill the needs they were set out to meet.Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with our foreperson and site teams to understand who and what they need and when they need them.
  • Attend and contribute to various events / speaking engagements that will get maximum exposure for the company’s vision
  • Provide complete, accurate, and inspiring information to candidates about the company
  • Build our talent pipeline of pre-qualified, available, and interested candidates.
  • Manage candidates’ status using internal applicants tracking system.
  • Conduct interviews and assist in the preliminary onboarding process of all new candidates, including working with our union halls to ensure proper dispatching

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable with technology and be open to learning more
  • Must be a member of UA local 170 or SMW local 280 in Vancouver
  • Valid trade certification in a piping or sheet metal trade is also a must.
  • Possess strong written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organized and able to work on multiple, competing priorities at any one time
  • Provide an exceptional service focused approach.
