Job Description

SmartLife Assistant CoachTemporary (3-months), Vancouver, BCCNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a SmartLife Assistant Coach! Reporting to SmartLife Head Coach, the SmartLife Assistant Coach will play a key role in changing the lives of Canadians who are blind or partially sighted by improving independence at home, work and play through face-to-face consultations and retail transactions at the CNIB SmartLife Centre.This position supports the day-to-day operation of the New Westminster CNIB SmartLife Centre. As CNIB SmartLife Assistant Coach, this individual will provide assistance to actively support potential and current clients through daily transactions and monitoring inventory, demonstrating consumer products and technology to clients and participants while conducting retail sales transactions.Your impact at CNIB

  • Welcoming and greeting people entering the SmartLife Centre
  • Handling of SmartLife Center daily consumer transactions such as answering consumer inquiries, scheduling and managing consumer consultations for SmartLife Solutions, processing consumer payment transactions through CNIB’s Point-of-Sale System, triaging and aiding in troubleshooting defective products with consumers, managing inventory, re-ordering, stock, and fulfilling customer orders.
  • Provides information regarding products and services available at the SmartLife Centre and within CNIB/VLRC/DBCS.
  • Helping educate clients in navigating our ecommerce site (www.cnibsmartlife.ca).
  • Demonstrates the use of various types of products and technology to the public.
  • Building strong, positive relationships with consumers, and seeking insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences to better tailor appropriate solutions
  • Provide administrative support within the New Westminster CNIB SmartLife Centre

  • Knowledge in accessibility and adaptive technologies.
  • Experience in training people with vision loss on utilizing accessible and assistive technologies.
  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature when dealing with the needs of persons living with vision loss.
  • Adept at thinking strategically to aid in realizing solutions for challenges specific to each individual consumer.
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field or relevant experience.
  • Experience with accessible and assistive technologies, program development and implementation, retail sales, and excellent customer service provision considered an asset.
  • Personal and/or professional experience relating to blindness and vision loss and associated assistive technologies.
  • Volunteer engagement and staff leadership experience.
  • Strong proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience using a Point-of-Sale system.
