Reporting to the Manager, Early Childhood & Family Development, the Supervisor will provide leadership, guidance and ongoing support to staff and volunteers working with children and families in licensed group child care programs. The Supervisor will work as part of the YMCA Early Childhood and Family Development leadership team to ensure the delivery of quality programs and initiatives that contribute to individual, family, and community well-being.Major Responsibilities:Provide direct leadership to multiple YMCA Care Programs with a focus on building a strong teamCoach, develop and support staff and volunteer teams to achieve excellence in service deliveryBuild and maintain positive relationships with families, key stakeholders including, licensing officers, community agencies and other service providersEnsure the delivery of high quality programs and services that meet Provincial Licensing Legislation and YMCA requirements and standardsProvide leadership and direction to staff teams to ensure that the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum and best practices are consistently maintained in the programs to support children’s development and learningResponsible for overseeing specific spending accounts, and supporting the Manager with following the program budgetManage and meet association commitments and targets with regards to the YMCA Strong Kids fundraising campaign, YMCA initiatives and other special projectsBe an engaged and integral part of a cohesive management team, working to achieve the mission of the YMCA of Greater VancouverExperience/Qualifications:Post-Secondary Degree or Certification in the field of Early Childhood Education ( infant/toddler certification preferred)Minimum five (5) years’ experience working with children and families in licensed group child care programsMinimum three (3) years of supervisory experience, leading multiple staff and volunteer teams in child care, family or community program settingsStrong knowledge and experience of emergent curriculum such as YMCA Playing to Learn with evidence of successful implementation and ongoing consistency within programsStrong knowledge of child growth and development, family relations and family centered practicesDemonstrated ability to be flexible, adaptable and work in a high demand environmentAbility to make sound judgments and decisions; effective prioritizing and problem solving skillsEffective oral and written communication skillsComputer proficient – Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)First Aid/CPR-C certificate requiredAbility to work some evenings, weekends and flexible schedule, as requiredSuccessful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start dateCompetencies:In addition to bringing a commitment to YMCA vision and values, the candidate should possess the following competencies:Leading Self
