Job Description

Reporting to the Manager Information Systems, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. The Systems Administrator supports the day- to- day IT needs of the organization. The Systems Administrator, Infrastructure, provides technical expertise in executing and developing business centric infrastructure solutions for companywide and internal IT projects. In support of day-to-day operations, this position collaborates with various business units to evaluate, install and maintain infrastructure systems that may include data and telecommunication networks, business applications, cloud integrations, hosted and cloud environments, etc. Additionally, this position provides third level technical support to end-users, internal IT groups and performs other related duties or projects as assigned.Duties

  • Analyze equipment performance records in order to determine the need for repair or replacement
  • Communicate with end users to resolve existing system problems Coordinate with vendors and with company personnel in order to facilitate purchases
  • Design, configure and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software
  • Diagnose hardware and software problems, replace defective components
  • Maintain an inventory of parts for emergency repairs
  • Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, system software, applications software and all configurations
  • Maintain logs related to network functions, as well as maintenance and repair records
  • Monitor network performance in order to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future
  • Operator master consoles in order to monitor the performance of computer systems, and networks and to coordinate computer network access and use
  • Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
  • Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures tin order to protect data, software and hardware
  • Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
  • Research new technology, and implement it or recommend its implementation
  • Assume the backup role for various customer information system procedures as needed.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a computer related or technical discipline
  • MCSE, CCNA preferred
  • Knowledge of SQL Server and SQL query
  • 5+ years in a similar position
  • Experienced in MS Active Directory and Domain administration
  • Experience in: systems planning, security principles, and general software management best practices; ITIL
  • Working technical knowledge of networking, Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows server operating systems
  • General knowledge and experience of network printers, wireless network, switching, routing: TCP/IP, Cisco ASA and Firepower appliances, IPSEC and remote access VPN
  • Experience with VEEAM Backup and Replication
  • Experienced in Microsoft 365 administration including but not limited to Azure AD, Exchange Online, MS Teams, SharePoint Online
  • Experience with VMware 6.7/7.0
  • Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Excellent documentation and organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent software/hardware troubleshooting experience
