Bring your unique strengths, perspectives and experiences to the port authority and join us in charting a course toward a sustainable future.The Talent Acquisition Advisor is responsible for providing full-cycle recruitment services for all levels of union and exempt positions at the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, including partnering with and supporting hiring managers, sourcing applications for open positions, reviewing and analysing resumes, conducting interviews with management, providing input on the selection process and supporting the onboarding of the new hires. This position works to ensure consistency and appropriate application of employer best practices, the collective agreement, port authority policies and statutory requirements.In this role, the successful candidate will:Accountabilities

  • Partner with and coach hiring managers in the recruitment processes and best practices
  • Co-ordinate recruitment activities for all levels of union and exempt positions by providing effective and timely placement and recruiting services, such as: posting, advertising, creating interview questions, reviewing and pre-screening applicants, interviewing on own and with management, testing, reference checks, developing and presenting employment offers, and follow-up communications with internal and external applicants
  • Conduct background and reference checks
  • Utilize the port’s communication style assessment tool to support the recruitment process and individual and team development as required
  • Coordinate port authority’s onboarding and orientation programs for new employees.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to employees to support their professional learning and growth
  • Support the offboarding process including conducting exit interviews and make recommendations as appropriate
  • Participate in health and safety initiatives and comply with established policy, procedures and guidelines to protect yourself and your work colleagues. Report concerns, hazards, risks and incidents to management for follow-up
Specific CompetenciesA high degree of initiative, good judgment, and interpersonal and communications skills (both oral and written) are required. Must possess tact, diplomacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all employees. Must exhibit a strong orientation towards customer service and be highly motivated to work both independently and in a team environment.Education & Experience
  • A university degree, preferably in human resources, supplemented with a minimum of 3 years of experience in full-cycle recruiting in a unionized environment or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Must be proficient in MicroSoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
  • Experience with an applicant tracking system
  • Minimum of two years in the construction and engineering sector will be considered an asset
  • CPHR designation would be considered an asset
