The team advises through the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects across Canada and globally and is recognized in the market as a leading advisor, recognized through local and international awards for innovation.We advise across sectors including transportation (e.g., transit, highways, airports), healthcare, environmental, energy and utilities, resources, schools and municipal facilities, among others. Recent innovative, progressive projects include the Tłı̨chǫ All Season Road in the Northwest Territories, the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant in Vancouver to name a few. We work across the spectrum of procurement methods including P3’s, Design-Builds, as well as progressive and collaborative procurement approaches for large scale complex projects. The practice is recognized as a trusted source by public sector departments, ministries and agencies, as well as by private sector market participants, for its expertise throughout a project’s lifecycle.Key team service offerings include:Early stage project development support including development of business cases, feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysesUndertaking market assessments and market sounding processesSmart / future cities planning, regulatory and policy advisoryProject bundling/packaging and procurement options analysesRisk assessments and development of commercial principlesPlanning and implementation of procurement processesProject and financial structuring for projects, capital raisingIndependent oversight and operational performance reviewsSupport with contractual and commercial claims and disputesContract management optimization and automationSales and divestitures, re-financings and valuations.We are a growing practice that has more than doubled in scale nationally over recent years and continues on a strong growth trajectory. This position is anticipated to be based in Vancouver and will fill an integral role to lead and deliver a variety of engagements related to the planning, development, delivery and operations of major infrastructure projects, with a focus on British Columbia, Alberta and the Territories.Skills and attributes for successProject managing EY teams advising both governments and private sector clients on major infrastructure projects including a lead role in client relationship management.A combination of qualitative work activities harnessing your strong written skills, such as development of business cases, feasibility studies or analyses of alternative options and a drafting of range of other deliverables in an infrastructure project planning or execution context, with your analytical skills involving financial models, risk assessments and other numerical analysisManaging engagement teams of 3-5 professionals and assuming developmental responsibility for junior staff.Collaborating with other team members in identifying and exploring potential new business opportunities; contributing to development and maintenance a healthy funnel of opportunities; contributing to growth of the practice through proactive introductions of the firms capabilities to target clients and by expansion of service to existing clients.To qualify for the role you must have8+ years professional services or consulting experience in a relevant field involving infrastructure projects, with a preference to experience in a management role involving a high degree of accountability for key outcomesStrong aptitude in interpreting and working with financial models in Microsoft Excel, particularly project finance models for infrastructure projectsDeveloped understanding of key commercial principles and risk allocation applied on infrastructure delivery contracts including Public Private Partnerships, with a preference to prior experience drafting or reviewing relevant contracts and procurement documentationStrong written and verbal communication/presentation skills with a preference for experience in drafting business cases, feasibility studies or other key documents relating to infrastructure project planningStrong project management skills and ability to organize work as the leader of multidisciplinary teams of professional advisorsPreference for established experience in one or more of the following sectors: healthcare, roads and bridges, public transit, ports, airports, power and utilities, water and wastewater, urban development, higher educationKnowledge of Canadian infrastructure and project financing markets; working knowledge of the Canadian Accounting concepts and principles - CPA not requiredUndergraduate degree necessary (business or engineering), Masters degree (e.g. MBA, MSc Economics or MSc Finance) or related designation (e.g. CFA/CBV) an assetMBA/Master’s degree/CFA/CBV or related designation (e.g. CFA/CBV) would be an assetWhat we look forWe are looking for candidates who are highly motivated, analytical, logical thinkers with a passion for being a strategic advisor in the infrastructure space; and have a very strong attention to detail.
