Your mandate will result in unparalleled student-facing services tailored to the diverse student population throughout Yorkville University & Toronto Film School. You will be responsible for the planning, development, administration, and integrity of services and activities foundational to student services, engagement, and ultimately retention.You will ensure students are effectively and seamlessly guided through admissions to course selection, program advising, accommodations, support services, graduation, employment search and, where appropriate, Canadian residency. By providing thought leadership, collaborative engagement, and an articulated strategy, you will position our university as offering an end-to-end exemplary and rewarding student experience.Leading a diverse portfolio, currently encompassing, Counselling & Wellness, Career Services, Student Accommodations, and Student Life, you will be the principal strategic and administrative advisor to the President, as well as the Chief Operations Officer, on services and activities that shape the student experience.   • Leadership, Management, & Strategy. You will:
    • Contribute to the strategic direction as a member of the President’s academic leadership team.
    • Lead a diverse portfolio, including Accommodations, Wellness & Counselling, Career Services, and a newly piloted First Year Student Experience initiative, ensuring that each campus provides an excellent student experience aligned with our strategic priorities and commitment to accessibility.
    • Provide dotted line oversight to the provincial student service/success managers, ensuring our commitment to the student experience is of the highest standard across all student demographics.
    • Oversee the budgetary resources for all student experience units and student services diverse portfolio.
  • Service Delivery Excellence. You will:
    • Ensure the student experience aligns with our mission of “improving and transforming students’ lives”.
    • Align execution of strategy with appropriate systems and technology.
    • Engage the Strategy & Analytics team to develop effective and forward-looking ways to monitor student feedback throughout the student lifecycle and related metrics (Net Promoter Score, Retention).
    • Capitalize on student metrics to develop plans for continuous improvement and collaborative engagement with campus leadership across the country.
    • Provide thought leadership on just-in-time student supports in collaboration with our Teaching and Learning office.
  • Engagement. You will:
    • Nurture communication, collaboration, and synergies across the campuses in areas of shared interest, through formal and informal processes.
    • Participate in provincial Academic Councils (ex-officio).
    • Represent student experience matters to the Board of Governors.
    • Build productive relationships of transparency and trust with students, faculty, staff, alumni, industry, community, and other stakeholders.
What you bring:
  • The education. You have a graduate degree in Education, Adult Education, Higher Education, Psychology, Student Development, Counselling, or another directly relevant field.
  • The expertise. You have a proven track record and 8+ years designing and executing strategies to support international students in higher education, demonstrable success leading change management, and direct experience overseeing diverse portfolios in a complex environment.
  • The knowledge. You are a vocal advocate and policy maker for equity, diversity, inclusion, justice, and reconciliation. You have a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges for postsecondary education in Canada, embracing innovation and continuous improvement.
  • The leadership. You can spearhead and organize strategy, people, projects, and outcomes, ensuring goals are achieved by providing clear directions and serving as a role model and mentor. You can influence with - and without - authority. You are emotionally intelligent, culturally competent, empathetic, and diplomatic, focusing on nurturing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment that supports the learning and success of all students.
  • The inspirational drive. You are a thought leader with experience creating and bringing to life a compelling vision for the future of student success; developing strategies to drive transformative change; and fostering new ways of thinking. You hold yourself and your team to high levels of integrity, ethics, honesty, and accountability, monitoring performance, and getting directly involved when needed to achieve desired results.
  • The interpersonal skills. You are a clear and effective communicator with excellent listening skills. You can purposefully build positive working relationships internally at all levels as well as alliances and partnerships externally with local communities and industry by fostering trust, collaboration, and teamwork. You demonstrate sensitivity and openness to others.
