Job Description

Job DescriptionAs our Facilities Manager, youll oversee the maintenance and operation of our facilities on Hornby Street (YWCA Health + Fitness Centre), our YWCA Childcare Centres in Vancouver and YWCA Crabtree Corner, E Hastings St. as well as provide support, advice, and guidance to our 14 off-site locations and our future housing projects.Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, team building and management to the unionized operations, maintenance and custodial staff, and ensure that these staff maintain customer service standards and follow establish standards for the efficient and cost-effective fulfillment of work orders and enact work processes
  • Ensure that work performed by contractors is well-planned, properly scheduled and monitored
  • Develop processes that stress preventative maintenance activity and conduct routine inspections of the YWCA buildings
  • Assist in developing operational and capital budgets and monitor expenses throughout the fiscal year to ensure budget costs are reasonable and variances are remedied or explained
  • Prepare management reports that adequately report all aspects of departmental operations and that contain information useful for Management Team planning and management.
  • Supervision of bargaining union employees
  • Standing member of the Occupational Health and Safety committee and responsible for all security, life safety and regulatory requirement of YWCA buildings
  • Promote and ensure sustainable operational practices
  • Provide expertise and support to the off-site locations including Housing, as well as input into future projects
  • Assist with the operations of the rooftop garden
Qualifications:
  • Five years related supervisory/management experience in a unionized environment and facility management that involves multi-tenants and project management experience
  • Facility Operation and Management Certificate, Power Engineering (4th Class) and Pool Operator’s certificate level 1 and 2.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced environment, multitask and determine work plans for staff
  • Well organized, team player with strong communication skills
  • Valid BC Driver’s license and a vehicle
  • Ability to work varied shifts
  • Positive criminal record check clearance
  • Mandatory vaccine disclosure
