Job Description

School: NECHAKO VALLEY SECONDARY SCHOOL – VANDERHOOF, BCStart Date: November 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023Assignment: .20 LIMITED DURATION POSITION

  • CASE MANAGEMENT
SPECIFIC ASSIGNMENT TO BE DETERMINED BY THE PRINCIPALQualifications:
  • possesses or is eligible for a BC Teaching Certificate
  • training and recent successful experience teaching both literacy and numeracy knowledge and skills in a variety of curriculum areas at the secondary grade levels
  • ability to work with at risk students with social/emotional challenges as well as with students with special vocational/academic needs
  • ability to work with staff in developing functional, practical IEPs for students involving integration, where feasible, into mainstream programs
  • ability to successfully liaise with parents, care-givers, agencies, the community and staff members
  • ability to work collaboratively with other members of the Special Education Department
  • demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a positive classroom learning environment that engages students in active learning experiences
  • experience in differentiating instruction to create success in learning for each student
  • experience in integrating appropriate technologies into instructional practices in order to improve learning outcomes for studentsProfessional dispositions are defined here as the values, commitments and professional ethics that influence an educator’s approach to their work.
