Homeless Outreach & Prevention Worker #2022-049Location: – Based in Vanderhoof, BC and serving Fraser LakeHours of Work: 27.5 hours per week flexible scheduleClosing Date: Until FilledStart Date: As Soon as PossibleSalary: $23.10 – $26.91/hour as per CSSEA & CSSBA Collective Agreement (Grid Level 11)Job SummaryThe Homeless Outreach and Prevention Worker is responsible for providing services to connect people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with housing options, income assistance, community-based support services and will endeavor to reduce the time that individuals who are absolutely homeless remain on the street in the community. Where appropriate assistance is also given to landlords to ensure the safe and affordable housing can be maintained. HOPP operates within the requirements of BC Housing Homeless Outreach Program and Homeless Prevention Program Framework. This program assists people who are experiencing homelessness to access housing and other community-based resources while pursuing their goals towards improved health, well-being, and housing stability.Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma in Human/Social Services field
  • One (1) year recent related experience including one-year administrative experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Non-Violent Crisis Prevention or de-escalation training preferred
  • Intermediate Computer Skills (strong understanding of word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, databases, and operating systems)
  • Knowledge of relevant socio-historical events relevant to Indigenous culture.
  • Must be sensitive to and respectful of cultural differences, differences in socio-economic status and lifestyle diversity. Must be non-judgmental.
Required:
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license & satisfactory drivers abstract
  • Criminal Record Check clearance
  • COVID19 Fully Vaccinated (2 shots) required.
  • This position requires union membership
