Enjoy unique experiences, close connections with communities, and a strong focus on professional development opportunities, as well as the natural wonders of the northern BC while you work.The Opportunity: The Intensive Youth Social Worker is responsible for providing meaningful and outcome-focused clinical services within the context of a youth’s lifestyle and family environment, thereby promoting safety, holistic wellness and stability for the young person. The Intensive Youth Social Worker understands the realities that youth face in their daily lives and is motivated to use role-modeling, coaching and facilitation skills that build meaningful relationships that engage youth and enable strong connections to be established in the young person’s life. The Intensive Youth Social Worker works one-on-one with youth who need advocacy in the various social & political systems they encounter, including, but not limited to, the child welfare system, criminal justice system, and education systems. The Intensive Youth Social Worker will work within a multi-disciplinary care team, and utilize a trauma-informed and strength-based approach to practice.

• Provide weekly face to face contact with youth;
• Conducts a needs-based assessment with the guardian and care team.
• Supports cultural planning and learning and facilitates healthy relations and contact with family and community.
• Facilitate group work that focuses on life skills, cultural knowledge and advocacy;
• Clearly identify and establish attainable goal work and develop strategies to meet said goals; Collaborate with clients and care team to create client-centered goal plans.
• Provide crisis de-escalation, intervention, support and de-briefing to youth and young adults.
• Complete referrals and facilitate child/youth access to other service providers.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology or Education
• Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in a social service setting
• Experience working in a leadership capacity with youth-at-risk
• Non-violent crisis intervention training
• Occupational First Aid Level 1
• Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
