Job Description

Production Manager- Food Processing FacilityPrairie Gold Produce Ltd. - Vauxhall, ABPrairie Gold Produce Ltd is a privately owned Canadian Family Business situated in the Potato Capital of the west; Vauxhall Alberta Canada.We specialize in Fresh Pack Potatoes and Dehydrated Potato Granules.Prairie Gold Produce Ltd.takes pride in the safety of employees, listening to employee voices, respecting one another and providing opportunities for growth.We are currently accepting applications for the Full Time position of:Production Manager at our Dehydration Facility in Vauxhall, AB.The incumbent will be responsible for efficiently and effectively producing the highest quality products, within the Company’s structure of policies and procedures, as well as Government regulations.Provide leadership to production staff, including direct supervision of senior supervisors.Coordinate an effective training program for employees.Create and maintain a positive labour environment by ensuring that all employees are treated with respect, issues are dealt with effectively and employees are communicated with in an open and patient manner.Organize and motivate staff to have an open communication system, clear job requirements and Health and Safety Procedures.Monitor production inputs and outputs to minimize product loss, compliance and enforcement of Occupational Health and Safety programs and working towards achieving an accident free facility.Communicate the implementation of new or any changes to the Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices and movements to gain HACCP certification, to ensure consistent product quality and a forward-moving food safety program.Champion continuous improvement for manufacturing processes within facility.Interact regularly with various managers and other team members including Quality Assurance, Health and Safety, Maintenance, Operations, Finance, and Human Resources utilizing daily manufacturing reports that capture performance.Prepare and adhere to yearly operating budgets.Participate in the review and recommendation for capital improvements for equipment and facilities.Recognize support and commit to the Food Safety and OHS and all other Company policies.Maintain and build a productive and effective employee environmentQualifications and Skills:The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment , be results oriented and have the ability to develop respect and a positive working relationships with all employees.Demonstrate ability to schedule employees and production shifts within a multi shift environment.Should have financial analytical skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office.Results oriented with ability to multi-task in constantly changing environment.Demonstrate innovation and ability to manage time wisely and make good day-to-day judgments.Ability to deal with a variety of front-line labour issues and have highly developed communication skills.Ideal candidate will have relevant post-secondary education in Engineering, Food Science, or Business.Previous experience 2-5 years in operations management role in the food processing industry is an asset.To apply:Submit Cover Letter and Resume in response to this ad.
