  • Provides a design service to Service and Design Reps, Specialists, Engineers and external
consultants by gathering service design project information required to facilitate the installation ofresidential, commercial and industrial services and associated distribution system work.
  • Coordinate discussions relating to design requirements for residential, commercial and industrial
services, and associated distribution work between Service & Design Reps, customers, municipaloffices, agencies, contractors, internal and external consultants and other related utilities.
  • Liaisons with residential, commercial and industrial customers, consultants and contractors on
matters related to service requirements, related policies and procedures, costs and rates includingpreparing customer quotations of final costs and collecting funds prior to commencement of work.
  • Checks preliminary material lists, ensures proper material allocations, checks availability of
materials, expedites and coordinates materials as required.
  • Updates the Pole Management System database based on Pole Activity Reports (PAR) and
Field work orders (FWO). Reconciles and updates pole information in data in PAS and GFIS databases by comparing various data bases and initiates and approves pole activities for billing.Performs a variety of duties related to the audit and completion of PAR and FWO including,flagging special billing situations for the Joint Pole Accounting Clerk, prepares reports regardingunreported field activities, and reviews and circulates DCDS/PAS interface errors to StatisticalClerk.
  • Updates design changes requested by others onto the DCS and DCDS systems. Process
revisions to drawings as requested by municipalities, agencies and other utilities.
  • Provides customers, outside agencies and other utilities with BC Hydro underground plant
information.
  • May be required to conduct field checks to gather and verify data required and directly enter
information related to compatible units into the system for the design of a variety of extensions,additions and improvements to the overhead distribution system. Processes required permits forhouse moves; processes right-of-way easement documents and property referrals.
  • May be required to perform some of the functions of the T&D Service Rep and Line Department
Rep jobs.
  • Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties which do not affect the rating of
the job.Qualifications:
  • High School graduation with Math 12, English 12 and Physics 11 and some exposure to
computer applications. Completion of Level 1 of the Service & Design Self Development Program,Electrical Fundamentals plus completion of the following in-house BC Hydro courses orequivalent: CICS, TSO, WMS, PAS, Accounts Payable, Code of Accounts, DCS, DCDS, STS andCDS application program courses (Word, Excel, Access, etc.) and e-mail.
  • Must possess a valid B.C. Drivers license.
  • Addendum: Under the recently signed
of the MUSTs for the DA role will be given first priority. If applicants do not meet the requirementsof having Electrical Fundamentals and/or Physics 11, applicants without these requirements maybe consideredADDITIONAL INFORMATIONThis position is affiliated with the Movement of United Professionals union (MoveUP/COPE).http://moveuptogether.ca
  • Working Conditions:
Majority of work is performed within normal office environment. Occasional exposure to a varietyof weather conditions when driving for field checks with requirement to walk over rough terrainwhile staking. Occasional requirement to lift stationery and distribution drawings. Some exposureto irate customers.
  • BC Hydro employees will be required to provide proof they are fully vaccinated effective
November 22, 2021.
