Job Description

M.D. Charlton Co. Ltd. (MDC), Canada’s largest distributor of law enforcement supplies, is looking for an Accounts receivable officer. The office is located on Keating Cross Road in Saanichton, Victoria BC.Primary duty will be Accounts receivable control (AR) and management. Skills and qualities we are looking for:Desirable skills, competences and qualities· Accounts Receivable (AR) control and management, including cost coding/allocations.· A general understanding of accounting principles is an asset but not required if you have a willingness to learn.

Your duties· Post payments from electronic file transfers (EFT’s), cheques, e-mails and telephone calls.· Prepare bank deposits for cheques and cash.· Print aging accounts receivable report from PSI ERP system [weekly]· Print / e-mail and forward AR statements for customers (beginning of the month)· Balance AR cash receipts to accounting general ledger· Reconcile petty cash· Call customer/client to follow-up on past due accounts/Create and-or update customer master files as needed· Accounts receivable tasks including billings, payments, and deposits.· Assist Sales representatives/Agents with customer accounts· Perform various tasks and projects as they arise.
  • Make collection phone calls on past due accounts on a daily basis.
  • Ability to reconcile customer accounts daily.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and maintain a workable long-term relationship
  • Properly apply payments to billings and analyse customers accounts
  • Have control on overdue accounts prepare appropriate control reports.
  • Understand customer contracts.
  • Maintenance of accurate customer files.
  • Ensure policies and procedures compliance filing (short-term and long-term storage), including digital archiving.
  • Perform ad-hoc related duties as required.
