More information can be found here.Take on a critical advisory role in intergovernmental relationsThe Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat (IGRS) manages British Columbias overall approach to intergovernmental relations; monitors initiatives of the federal, other provincial and foreign governments for their relevance to provincial interests; and coordinates a provincial response to such initiatives.As Intergovernmental Relations Advisor, you are a valuable member of a small team of analysts accountable for providing assistance, analysis and advice to the Executive Directors and line Ministries on the management of federal-provincial and international intergovernmental issues impacting British Columbia. Utilising your strong analytical and research skills, you examine major economic and social policy issues of critical importance to the Province’s future in a detailed and thorough manner in order to provide expertise on a wide variety of issues that cross jurisdictions, domestically and internationally.Your superior ability to communicate orally and in writing ensures that the results of your research are conveyed effectively and professionally. Your collaborative nature proves invaluable in this key role as you assist in negotiations and search for compromises to achieve consensus and to ensure ministry initiated intergovernmental activities are consistent with the overall strategy and positioning of the B.C. government.   • Degree or graduate degree in a relevant area of study such as, but not limited to, political science, history, economics, international relations, Indigenous studies, public or business administration, or law; or a degree in another field combined with experience in intergovernmental or international relations.
  • Experience conducting research and analysis on national or international issues.
  • Experience working with teams and committees.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Word.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
  • Experience in intergovernmental or international relations.
  • Experience using PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with confidential material.
