GCPE leads and coordinates government communications and public engagement through three divisions: Communications and Media Relations Division, Strategic Communications Division and Corporate Services Division.Reporting to the Manager of Video Production and Director of Digital Communication, the Photographer produces various types of still photographs and video recordings to support the Government’s strategic communications priorities, events, and activities. Assignments are received from the Premier’s office, Ministries, Marketing and Advertising, the Events team, and the Digital team. The Photographer is responsible for coordinating and delivering all aspects of photography requests – from scheduling to production.The capital of British Columbia, Victoria is a beautiful city, with beautiful beaches and harbours, and a variety of provincial parks to explore. (Please note: a portfolio will be required at the assessment stage of the competition).Professional experience using Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud to manage and develop photos.Experience turning around final photographs in a very short timeframe.Experience in a high-volume environment with numerous competing priorities.Preference may be given to applicants with:Post-secondary education in photography or communications related discipline (e.g. journalism, public relations, political science etc.)Experience in field photography and/or photojournalismExperience in studio photographyProviso/Willingness StatementsCandidates must be willing and able to: Work flexible work arrangements (schedules and workplaces).
