This is a rare opportunity for a full time permanent Marine Biologist position working in the Coast Area.Reporting to the Manager of Marine and Coastal Resources, Regional Operations Division, Coast Area of the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD), this position is the lead ministry expert in marine biology and, on behalf of the provincial government, supports the development and implementation of marine policies and plans, including a new Coastal Marine Strategy for BC and ongoing initiatives such as the Marine Plan Partnership (MaPP), the Pacific North Coast Integrated Management Area (PNCIMA) plan and Marine Protected Area (MPA) network planning for the Northern Shelf. The position is responsible for forging strong working relationships with First Nations, government officials, private sector representatives, and other stakeholders and providing technical expertise to advance certain elements of marine policy development and planning.
