Job Description

Building Caretaker - Cedar ShoresWe are currently recruiting for the position of Full-Time Maintenance Associate/Caretaker to assist the Site Manager of a large 260-unit condominium complex. This position does not require the applicant to live on the property and does involve a variety of duties including but not limited to:

  • Routine maintenance of the buildings and grounds.
  • Safety and security checks of buildings and parking lots.
  • Routine maintenance of the pool and hot tub.
  • Checking Mechanical and Electrical room equipment and parkade gates.
  • Responding to emergencies and residents’ concerns.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Skills Needed:
  • “Handyperson” competence with cleaning, carpentry, drywall repairs, and painting.
  • Knowledge of boiler systems.
  • Ability to identify electrical and plumbing issues.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with residents and tradespeople effectively and diplomatically.
Qualifications:
  • 2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in strata or rental buildings.
  • General experience with plumbing, electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Physical strength for the tasks required.
  • Criminal record check.
  • Pool Operators certificate an asset (if you do not yet have this we would pay for you to obtain it) Employment offer contingent on successful attainment of pool operator certification.
  • Ability to work Tuesday-Saturday, with the possible shift to Monday-Friday, and to respond to after-hours emergencies.
  • Timely access to the site is an asset.
