A team of professionals in the branch reviews and investigates appeals of decisions made by tax administrators before making a written recommendation on the disposition of each appeal.The branch communicates with a wide range of taxpayers including individuals, corporations and multinational companies as well as their legal and financial representatives. Appeals and litigation involve complex legal and accounting issues and appeals correspondence is relied on in litigation so getting details right is critical.The Program Communications Analyst ensures the branch’s written products (namely ministerial correspondence and briefing materials) correctly reflect and communicate the application of tax legislation as it pertains to an individual taxpayer’s circumstances. The Analyst employs expertise in writing and communication to compose, revise, re-work, and edit written materials to ensure those materials are consistent, cohesive, and completeYou have excellent English language skills and an interest in grammar and writing.   • Post secondary degree or diploma in English, Communications, Journalism, or other related programs of study, such as humanities, social sciences, history or languages. Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience conducting substantive editing and checking the accuracy of documents prepared by other professionals.
  • Experience composing professional correspondence or comparable writing experience.
  • Experience composing written materials to communicate analysis and conclusions.
  • Experience working as part of a professional team in a business or public sector environment.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with complex editorial (structural or stylistic editing) experience.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with experience in technical writing fields.
