The Office drafts all government Bills and all regulations, provides advice to government on statutory interpretation, and has custody of all regulations and orders in council. The Office also revises the statutes and regulations, tracks and records their history, and provides information on them to government and to members of the public. Furthermore, the Office is responsible for all official publications of the statutes and regulations.Our work is carried out in a high-profile and fast-paced environment in which accuracy, attention to detail, initiative, teamwork, organization, flexibility and diplomacy are essential.In this position, you are responsible for performing a variety of legislative support services, with a high degree of independence and under limited supervision, for assigned legislative counsel who are working on complex legislative initiatives.If this position interests you and you meet the required criteria, we look forward to your application.Job Requirements:In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Degree, diploma or other post-secondary certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • At minimum of 3 years’ clerical work experience in a formal office environment, preferably a legal office environment;
  • Experience proofreading and checking the accuracy of documents prepared by others.
Preference may be given to applicants who have the following:
  • Completion of course work in law (specifically justice studies or paralegal program or legal secretary program) preferred;
  • Experience working in a high-volume, deadline-oriented environment;
  • Experience in a position requiring research of legislation as a component of the duties;
  • Experience in a position requiring the production of attractively formatted material for print publication;
  • Experience with database software (Filemaker Pro);
  • Experience with publication software (Adobe Acrobat Pro and FrameMaker);
  • Experience dealing with competing demands and shifting priorities.
Proviso:
  • Overtime and working outside of regular business hours may be required.
